Beat the Holiday Blues

Beat the Holiday Blues

Did you know that people experience more stress, anxiety and depression during the holidays than at any other time of the year?

The holidays symbolize family and togetherness and can be a joyous occasion for some, and a painful reminder for others.

Without the structure of work, those without close family or friends can feel lonely and out of sorts.

Personally, 2016 is the year my baby Leo died, so I’m not really looking forward to Christmas without him. I’m staying connected to animals though by volunteering at animal shelters, connecting with my animal loving/animal rescue friends, and trying to sit through the quiet and the emptiness of the house.

Yoga and meditation can be huge gifts during this difficult time, and I advise companies to support their employees via workplace wellness programs throughout November, December and January.

I teach a corporate mini-retreat that combines gentle stretching + guided meditation + aromatherapy in just 1 hour. People return to their desks refreshed and restored. Sometimes even new connections between employees are made.

If you are someone who dreads the holiday season, try something different this year.

Ask your Human Resources professional to bring in a Certified Private Yoga Instructor. You will learn breathing and meditation techniques that if practiced regularly, can help you deal with the difficult times.

As always, if you have any questions about corporate wellness, don’t hesitate to email or call me.

Happy Holidays!

xoxo

The necklace I’m wearing has Leo’s ashes in it.
