My Favorite Products Summer 2017
For me, summer is all about skin – protecting, hydrating and moisturizing – as our skin is unveiled and simply needs more love. Plus, I love trying out new products that I think might be helpful in our collective quest for greater wellness and wellbeing. (Disclaimer: I am not sponsored by any of these products.) Also, hats and sunscreen are not included here because I feel like hats are pretty generic and sunscreen, well, I’m still looking for one I really love.
P.S. If anyone knows of a mineral-only, SPF30 or higher that doesn’t have nano-particles but still goes on clear, let me know!
P.P.S. If you have used raspberry seed oil or carrot seed oil extensively, also please let me know your results!
These are the 5 things I’m loving right now.
1- Living Libations, Best Skin Ever – Nadine Artemis, a noted Canadian aromatherapist and expert on essential oils, has created the most luxurious line of natural beauty products. What I love most about all LL things is the way they smell! The BSE (Best Skin Ever line) works best applied right after bathing when the skin is still damp. I use it on my face (in the AM) and liberally on my body (after being in the sun). My favorite scents are Sea Buckthorn and Rose.
-Dissolver of make-up and mascara! Use a steamy, warm washcloth to towel off.
-Remover of bacteria and protector of gums – read more about oil pulling here.
-Moisturizer of dead-ends and scalp soother! Make a DIY hair mask!
3- Immunity Oil roll-on – their website is a little infomercial-y but even in the summer, people get sick and there’s nothing worse than being sick while everyone else is outside having fun. I roll this on the soles of my feet before bed, especially if I’ve been in contact with sniffly clients.
Also a great thing to take while travelling on airplanes! Very affordably priced on this website (link above)
4- YogaBodyToe Spacers – More opportunities to go shoeless = more opportunities to work your feet!
These come in a cute bamboo box with 2 sizes and are the most comfortable of the toe spreaders I’ve tried. Super flexible gel. Even though my feet are in pretty good shape, I wear these around the house from time to time to maintain my yogi toes.
I recommend them to my clients who have bunions or toes that cross over one another. Remember, your feet are your foundation on this earth; treat them with love and respect!
5- Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant (Cedarwood + Juniper) – I’ve been on a quest to find a ‘natural’ deodorant that actually works for about 2 decades. Natural for me means no aluminum or alum/potassium alum/mineral salts – essentially nothing that closes the pores and reduces sweating. I tried Living Libations Poetic Pits and thought I’d found the holy grail of botanical pitdom, but after 2 weeks it gave me a bad rash.
Alas, this product smells heavenly and a little goes a long way. Follow the directions – allow it to warm on the skin first and then gently swipe 1-2 passes. Any more and you will get oily marks on your shirt as coconut oil is the 2nd ingredient.
Note: for heavy sweaters, you may need to apply a second time and I realize this hassle may be a deal-breaker.
