The event is the brainchild of inspirational sisters , Tedi Serge and Sonya Serge.
I first met Tedi at a yoga studio and was so impressed by her entrepreneurial vision. Tedi founded Sand Sisters, in 2012, an exclusive club for young girls which focuses on the development of self-esteem, etiquette, and positive involvement in the Los Angeles community.
“I created Sand Sisters because I believe in the old days, when kids were kids. They played outside, ate fresh food, respected their parents, and were not addicted to their iPad. I believe in etiquette, high self-esteem, community involvement, nature, and an active lifestyle. I want to share this mentality with young girls as a preventative program, to help guide their lives down a positive path. Sand Sisters is a happy place where all girls are greeted with a hug and loved for their uniqueness. At Sand Sisters we appreciate sisterhood, encourage self awareness, and embrace creativity. This is the beginning of a great program that is going to grow throughout outhern California and beyond. If you are the kind of parent that likes to see their daughter grow, learn, laugh, exercise, bond, and mature, support her in becoming a Sand Sister.”
A California native, Tedi Serge has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a minor in Global Studies. She has years of experience as a classroom teacher, director of a preschool, lifeguard, swim coach, and nanny. Her love for the outdoors, children, and teaching led her to start her own outdoor classroom; Sand Sisters.
