Thistle – Delicious Healthy Meals Delivered

Thistle – Delicious Healthy Meals Delivered

Private Yoga Instructor Santa Monica Los Angeles Thistle Healthy Meals DeliveredNobody paid me to write this review but Thistle is flippin’ fantastic.

This is the kind of food I’d make myself if I had the time to design 100% organic meals with global flavor profiles, every single day of the week.

I loved these guys so much I wrote to ask them for a coupon for my readers.

Founded in San Francisco in 2013, Thistle is an early-stage food-tech startup that empowers people to be healthier and happier through delicious, flavor-forward meals. You can feel this in the menu design, the website and blog, and even the customer service interactions.

I’ve tried other meal delivery services (in LA we have a lot to choose from) and they’ve always felt overly punitive (all raw, cold food), overly geared towards cutting calories, overly pretentious (superfoods you can’t pronounce of dubious origin) or the food feels like it was made in a commercial kitchen sometime ago and just doesn’t taste awesome.

There’s none of that with Thistle.

The heart of the company is plant-based and vegan, but you can add meat to any meal for an additional $2. [Thistle is only available to those living in CA and NV at the moment but hopefully this changes very soon.]

Delivery arrives at your doorstep very early and every 2 days in cold storage bags, so your refrigerator is never full of a week full of meals that look less and less appealing as Friday nears.

The ordering process is crisp and straight-forward — essentially you look at an upcoming menu and pick the items you want. There’s no presorted plan like low-fat, or low-carb and this gives you, the customer, ultimate flexibility. You can swap out meals, delete and add any time if you don’t like something coming up on the menu.

Since I like to make my own breakfast and lunch nibbles, I ordered 5 days of vegetarian dinners. This came out to roughly $13.50/meal which I think is fantastic for a meal that is:

1) not a salad!

2) 100% organic

3) contains an average of 5.8 uniquely different vegetables (per their website).

I also like that all their dinners are designed to be served warm. There’s nothing less satisfying than working all day and sitting down to a plate of cold food. I only like cold dinner salads when it’s really hot or I’ve just finished a really tough workout and am not very hungry.

But enough about me, here’s what I got to eat in a week:

Bottom Line – if you are want to incorporate more vegetables into your diet, try out Thistle for a week.  It’s totally flexible, you can add and delete meals, and cancel at any time. I didn’t try these out but they also have tons of add-ons like juices, snacks as well as an amazing array of breakfasts and lunches.
