How To Build A Human Nest

How To Build A Human Nest

This is my favorite set up for deep relaxation in your home.

It’s also a great place to receive energy healing like distance Reiki or Energy Medicine, Sound Baths and/or Guided Meditation.

Build the Human Nest anytime you need a time out; most people have everything needed to build it.

Human Nest is especially nice in the last pose in any yoga class, private or group–SAVASANA.

By supporting the curves of the spine, the back of the legs and the back of the head, we can more easily access the 5th limb of yoga which is PRATYAHARA, or sense withdrawal.

VIDEO HOW TO HERE

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 4-6 Pillows or cushions (ideally of the same thickness) to arrange seam-to-seam underneath the length of body

  • 1 thick pillow bent into a wedge for under the knees (or a yoga bolster)

  • 1 rolled towel or thinner pillow for under the neck

  • 1 blanket for the body (optional)

  • Eye mask (optional)

  • Essential oil (optional)

DIRECTIONS

If your floors are wooden, use a yoga mat followed by blankets like I demo above.

Lay pillows seam to seam along the length of your body.

You may want the buttocks aligned where a seam is so they can sink in.

Place a bolster or wedge pillow under the knees, as well as a pillow under the heels.

Place a thinner pillow or cylindrical bolster under your neck.

Get in your nest and enjoy.
