My Favorite Natural Dental Care Products
My Favorite Natural Dental Care Products
**UPDATE** September 2025
I can no longer endorse the Health Ranger Tooth Salt. I used it for 1.5 years and over time, it made my teeth yellow. I believe this is due to the color of the Neem powder. I wish the tooth powder could be made lighter in color, as well as gentler; then I would be a fan again.
I’ve been using this for about 8 months – Himilayan Botanicals with Nano Hydroxyapatite. I feel it is helping remineralize my teeth. It’s obviously not as good at cleaning as a powder, but you have to preserve your enamel.

I am not a fan of fluoride – in water, in toothpaste, in anything – so for as long as I can remember, I’ve been into ‘natural’ toothpaste.
When I was a kid, I used Tom’s of Maine in the metal tube (before they sold out to Colgate-Palmolive), and over the years, I’ve tried so many products.
Much like my hunt for effective natural deodorants – which ultimately led to the simplest of solutions – I now prefer to make my own toothpowder (recipe below) but still have these in rotation.
FOR BRUSHING
HEALTH RANGER TOOTH SALT WITH NEEM
This product tastes salty so if that’s a turn-off, don’t try it. I add a few extra drops of peppermint oil because I like it extra minty.
Ingredients: Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate), Sea Salt (Sodium Chloride), Organic Neem Powder (Azadirachta Indica), Myrrh Gum, Organic Peppermint Essential Oil and Organic Clove Essential Oil. |
Natural beauty pioneer Nadine Artemis (Living Libations) has some great oral care products, as well as a book devoted to holistic dental care.
I use her NEEM ENAMELIZER ALKALINIZING TOOTHPASTE
If you like a more traditional toothpaste in a tube, free of fluoride and SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), this is a good one.
