Office Stretch Break Desk Yoga
One of my favorite classes to teach in the workplace is a class I don’t even call yoga.
It’s a “StretchBreak.”
You often lose people who think yoga isn’t for them; ‘stretching’ is more accessible.
When I pitch this concept to companies, I always mention when I used to work in corporate finance, we had a weekly Yoga class–only 3 people out of a company of 100+ attended. Those 3 were experienced yogis.
When offering a StretchBreak to your employees, here’s a tip–remove ALL barriers to entry.
Don’t require special clothes or equipment.
Make it easy to sign up and access the class.
Make it easy for people in remote locations to access the class.
Consider incentivizing participation like a monetary bonus for 20 completed classes.
StretchBreaks can be 5 minutes to 30 minutes and they are for EVERYONE.
If you’ve got a body, you can participate.
We release the neck, shoulders, arms, wrists and hands–essential for anyone at a desk.
We release the spine, hamstrings and legs–essential for anyone seated for long periods.
We release the eyes–essential for logging screentime.
Bottom line–this class, when taken consistently, will improve the health of its participants.
