Posture Refresh with a Hand Towel

Posture Refresh with a Hand Towel

Private Yoga Instructor Santa Monica Los Angeles Posture Refresh With A Hand TowelThis is something EVERYONE can do at home, and should do on the daily.

All you need is a rolled hand towel.

It is a little more work than it looks, so stick with it!

Your entire spine and breathing capacity will thank YOU!

Video here.

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to be able to stand aligned, with minimal effort.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT AESTHETICS; it’s about breathing, mood and confidence!

You may not be able get there today, but as K. Pattabhi Jois said, ‘Practice And All Is Coming.’

POSTURE REFRESH WITH A HAND TOWEL- DIRECTIONS

Fold a hand towel in half the long way. You’ll have a long, skinny rectangle.

Roll end to end to form a jelly roll.

Walk to a wall and place the roll vertically in between your shoulder blades, and your feet about 6-8″ from the baseboard.

Here’s where the magic happens:

  1. Take your tail to the wall.

  2. Open your arms like a T.

  3. Take your head to the wall and draw your chin in.

Breathe 3-5 breaths.

Enjoy the space in your body.

POSTURE REFRESH WITH A HAND TOWEL – ADVANCED OPTION

  1. Replace the towel with a yoga block.

  2. Press the feet down.

  3. Reach the middle fingers away from one another.

  4. Release the shoulders away from the ears, and LIFT THAT CROWN.

  5. [FYI, this is a lot of work!].
