UPWARD FACING DOG (Urdhva Mukha Svanasana)
UPWARD FACING DOG
Another fundamental pose within the Sun Salute, Upward Facing Dog Pose is a wonderful heart-opening pose that if done properly, also opens and strengthens the shoulder girdle.
ALIGNMENT
Laying face down on the mat, place the palms between the lower ribs and upper waist.
Press deeply through the palms, straightening the elbows and lift the knees and thighs off the mat.
All 10 toes and tops of feet remain on the mat.
WORK IN THE POSE
Lift the crown of the head toward the sky without puffing out the front ribs.
Lower the shoulders away from the ears, lengthening the neck.
